Strange at it may seem today, some early Christians held to wild speculations about Jesus’ death. Some said it was actually God the Father who suffered on the cross (the heresy of patripassianism) OR THAT THE DIVINITY OF CHRIST SEPARATES FROM HIS HUMANITY AT THE LAST MOMENT(BECAUSE GOD CANNOT DIE) or that Jesus merely swooned on the cross and recovered after 3 days. The crucifixion and death of Jesus is a historical event, attested to by non-scriptural documents. The Creed AFFIRMS THAT THE SECOND PERSON OF THE TRINITY WAS CRUCIFIED, ACTUALLY DIED, AND WAS BURIED.
